Service Description

In this course, students will learn about William Shakespeare's life, career, and his powerful influence upon the 17th century world and beyond. We will discuss the reasons why poetry and verse had such a tight grasp upon the Shakespearean world as well as explore the Elizabethan era of entertainment. We will read, watch, and discuss Shakespeare's poetry and a combination of his famous tragedies and comedies. Students will also learn how to read, understand, and connect with Shakespeare's poetry and plays. Not only will we study his most famous pieces during his time period, but we will also work to understand how his writing goes beyond the stage through to the 21st century. We will explore questions like, "Why does he use his language this way?" and "Why do we keep reading Shakespeare after all this time?" The answers await!
