Shakespeare & the Stage

Shakespearean theater through the eyes of literature

  • Ended
  • $95/month
  • 38 W Sierra Madre Blvd. Unit K, Sierra Madre, CA

Service Description

In this course, students will learn about William Shakespeare’s plays, Elizabethan theater, and the greater theatrical context in which Shakespeare’s works are nestled. Students will engage with and perform monologues and scenes, experimenting with the language, staging, and style of Shakespeare. As we do close-readings and perform significant passages, we will learn stage directions, acting techniques, and improvisation. This course will also integrate modern retellings (such as film) that make these plays more accessible and grant insight into the universality of Shakespeare’s characters and plots. Join us as we bring his comedies, tragedies, and histories to the stage once more!
